This past weekend, Maryvale Preparatory School’s theatre department presented Anastasia. For myself, theatre has always been compelling. The ability actors have to bring stories from books and television to life right before your eyes is truly exhilarating.
Maryvale’s student body is filled with incredibly talented performers, and this production was a clear reflection of that.

The theatre was packed with people from all over, proving Anastasia was a smashing success. Three standout performers were Paige Tull as Anastasia, Ayla Pohlhaus as Dmitri, and Bailey Parton as Vladimir.
These three actresses carried the heart of the show, each bringing depth, emotion, and authenticity to their roles. Paige Tull captivated the audience with her powerful vocals and graceful stage presence, perfectly portraying Anastasia’s journey of self-discovery. Ayla Pohlhaus delivered a compelling performance as Dmitri, balancing charm and sincerity while creating a strong connection with both the audience and fellow cast members. Bailey Parton brought energy and humor to the role of Vladimir, providing moments of lightheartedness that enhanced the overall production.

Beyond these leading roles, the ensemble cast played a crucial part in making the show feel alive and dynamic. The choreography, set design, and costumes worked together seamlessly to transport the audience into Anastasia’s world, showcasing the dedication and hard work of the entire theatre department. Each scene was thoughtfully executed, highlighting the creativity and passion that went into the production.
Maryvale’s Anastasia was more than just a school performance; it was a testament to the talent, commitment, and artistry within the community. The cast and crew delivered a memorable experience that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
