This year we have a handful of new teachers on campus. I had the pleasure of learning more about each of them to share with the Maryvale community! Take some time to reach out and get to know them!
Miss Kepner started at Maryvale this fall after teaching at Loyola Blakefield and at a public school in Pennsylvania. She teaches Algebra I and II CP and is also the Middle School Volleyball A Team Head Coach. Her favorite foods are tacos or nachos. For fun, she likes to go to concerts, spend time with her family and friends, play volleyball, and go on runs. She has a 10-month-old Aussiedoodle rescue puppy named Hazel and a five-year-old gray tuxedo cat named Jameson! She is also getting married in June.
Madame DeLucry is Maryvale’s newest French teacher! Before coming to Maryvale, she was a French teacher with Baltimore County Public Schools. She loves to sing karaoke, so if you ever hear someone singing in the basement of the Castle, it’s probably her! She also likes to play video games and make crafts such as earrings and soap. Her favorite food is pizza and her biggest achievement is spending six weeks in Senegal as part of the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad program in 2022! She also has three cats, Kitten (who is 16 and definitely not a kitten), Loki, and Remy.
Ms. Mantler is Maryvale’s Experiential Learning Coordinator! She is excited to provide different ways for students to learn, lead, and succeed in and out of the classroom. Prior to Maryvale, she worked at NDP as a Social Studies Teacher and their WIN (Women In…) Career Exploration Program Coordinator. She loves to run, read, and hang out with her family! She and her family are looking for a pet and hoping to get one soon. She also has a favorite food: pizza! Her biggest achievement is having three amazing children. So far, she has really enjoyed her time at Maryvale, is thrilled to be a part of this community, and says that everyone is so kind and helpful.
Mr. Capobianco came to Maryvale this year after working at several other schools! He started in New Hampshire, working as a high school English teacher and football coach. Then, he worked as the Athletics Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Washington. After that, he taught middle school English at a Catholic school in Anne Arundel County. Now, he teaches 9th Grade theology and is the assistant varsity basketball coach. For fun, he likes to garden, go on road trips, and cook his favorite dish: homemade penne alla vodka. The coolest thing he’s ever done was officiate his brother’s wedding.
Ms. Lynn is a new sixth grade religion teacher! She has taught for 22 years at two schools before coming to Maryvale. She has a border terrier named Toby and loves to take walks, do yoga, and have coffee with her friends. She has three daughters, and raising them has been the most rewarding thing she’s ever done. Her favorite food is avocado, which she will eat with just about anything.
Dr. Pane is our new chemistry and physics teacher. Before coming to Maryvale, she worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) doctor and she says that retiring from to become a teacher was a dream come true! In the NICU, she witnessed miracles every day with babies being born and saving babies’ lives, many of whom were born prematurely or very sick. She loves to do paper crafting, scrapbooking, and caring for her family dog, Doc. Her favorite food is pizza. Two of the coolest things that have happened to her were meeting Pope St. John Paul II and receiving a blessing from him, and being in a homeroom with Whitney Houston and sitting next to her.
Ms. Ramsey is the newest member of the Mitchell Leadership Institute. She teaches Intro to Business, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity, and works on the Financial Literacy advisory lessons. She also is the moderator for the Stock Club. Before coming to Maryvale, she worked as a part-time professor at a college in Michigan, teaching courses in digital marketing, portfolio design, interpersonal communications, and merchandising. She also is a published writer and photographer and has her own brand and marketing business, which has been going for 7 years strong. For fun, she loves to spend time in nature hiking, paddle boarding, reading, painting and writing. She has two French bulldogs, Margaux and Vivienne. Ms. Ramsey also received two silver medals in two paddle board races– a 5k and a 10k. She also went to both France and Traverse City, Michigan – where she used to live – without knowing anyone, so she is a professional at coming into new places and feeling right at home.
We’re so excited to welcome all of our new teachers to Maryvale! We can’t wait to see all the amazing energy you bring to campus!
