Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: Living Up To The Legend?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was quite the confusing movie. Yes, the chaos of the original Beetlejuice is part of why it’s so loved that they decided to make a sequel over 30 years later, but it just didn’t quite seem to flow. Jenna Ortega’s character Astrid is the daughter of Winona Ryder’s returning character Lydia Deetz. Astrid experiences a brief romance that while, yes, is important to the plot, gets rushed into plot development instead of taking the time to develop her specific relationship. Beetlejuice himself feels like a supporting role in his own movie- not that it didn’t have the same effect when he wasn’t introduced until over halfway into the first movie. However, if you’re looking for a lighthearted, easy watch that will keep your eyebrows raised, this is a movie to check out. It’s filled with creative twists and comedic relief, despite it being a movie that deals with the dead. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a great movie to see when hanging out with your friends, but maybe not if you want to leave with a changed perspective.
