Halloween Poem

Trapped by Madelyn Grayson ’24
Halloween+Poem
Trapped
Walls begin to close around you as you feel sweat drip down your face
You start to panic as you see there is no way out of this place
No windows or doors or holes in the wall
Only just enough room for you curl yourself up in a tight little ball
As you feel your heart begin to beat faster
The silence screams loud enough to make glass shatter
The floors creak and screech with every movement you make
You begin to wonder how much more of this you can possibly take
Then all of a sudden you feel something touch your back
But you can’t turn your head to see who made the attack
You try to scream as something sharper than nails scrapes down your spine
But from your throat comes not one single cry
Instead, you feel yourself becoming weak
Your body shivers and in your head pounds a racing beat
Voices in your head start to scream out your name
And you start wonder if you will ever see the light of day
What felt like hours, was only a few seconds
Before the scratching stopped and the light finally came in
And you climb out of the box you were trapped in
